EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad, Gujarat(2001 – 2004) B.S. in Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Nirma University, Gujarat (2004 – 2006) M.S. in Biotechnology

PREVIOUS RESEARCH EXPERIENCE: 2002 – 2003: Industrial training on “Plant Tissue Culture – Micropropagation of Caladium (variety-III), Petunia and Mahudo”.
2003 – 2004: Undergraduate Research for one year at the Xavier Research Foundation, St. Xavier’s College, on Anther culture of Hibiscus.
2005 – 2006: Dissertation Research on “ Cloning a Cytokine gene into a mammalian expression vector and Subcloning of other Assembly Elements to obtain enhanced expression” undertaken at Zydus Research Centre, Ahmedabad.

ACHEIVEMENTS: 2003: The Grace Braganza Research Fellowship and a Gold Medal for Undergraduate Research in ‘ Anther culture Of Hibiscus ’. Gold Medal, received at the hands of the Chief minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi, for being the ‘Best student of M.Sc. Biotechnology : 2004 – 2006 batch’, Nirma University.

CURRENT EDUCATION: Ph.D. program in Genetics, Fall 2007 to present.

CURRENT RESEARCH: I am at present devising a strategy to genotype BDNF deficient mice without having the need to run gels for analysis. During the summer of 2008, I plan to assist Stef with cloning amplimers into bacterial vectors so as to provide a means for their stability during storage.

OTHER INTERESTS: I love doing crazy things on an impulse (which lands me into deep trouble more often than not!). I like reading English literature, and writing short stories and poems. I love music of all kinds, and I like playing squash and tennis.
