Education--  Currently in Schreyer Honors College, majoring in Biology and Psychology

Other activities to fill my life--  EMTing with Penn State's University Ambulance Service (Company 20), Penn State Hillel, THON

Interests and things that keep me happy--  baking/cooking/eating, dance parties, decaffinated coffee, surprises, lights and sirens, potluck dinners, not sleeping (unless it's in class), medical TV shows, my dogs, Coldplay, falling asleep through movies, and most importantly, being social!

Research

One of my projects is examining the relationship between BDNF (a growth factor in the brain) and serotonin using mice with altered BDNF levels.  I'm also working with Dr. Richard Rothman's group at the NIH to test the effects of MDMA (Ecstasy) on the serotonin system in rats. 
In 2005, I worked in Dr. Greg Siegle's lab at UPMC's Western Psychiatric Institute studying affective development in children and adolescents.
