Previous research experience: NIH Postbaccalaureate IRTA Fellow, NIAAA, Rockville, MD (June 2006-June 2007): Efficacy of viral and non-viral vectors on neuronal transfection in mice after stereotaxic injection; Characterization of protein expression in cerebellum following DNA damage in mice

Pharmacology Research Assistant, Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Blacksburg, VA (May 2005-June 2006): Involvement of neurotransmitter release in mediating hyperthermic effects of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, Ecstasy)

Current projects:In addition to assisting Drs. Anne Andrews and Beth Luellen on an invited book chapter concerning changes in neurotransmitter levels in response to alterations of serotonin (5-HT) transporter (SERT, 5-HTT) functioning, I am also working on developing two research projects. One entails altering serotonin (5-HT) levels during development, while the other involves changing SERT expression at different points during the lifespan.
